Internship offer in Tourism, reception and animation in Lanzarote


Information about the company that’s offering the internship:

If you´re lucky enough to do your internship in this company, you´ll undoubtedly remember it till the end of your life: it´s a great 5-star hotel, located (obviously) in one of the most beautiful spots in Europe: the Canary Islands.

This hotel, like many others around, has hundreds of rooms and suites with sea views, swimming pools and a spa, 24-hour reception, internet, parking, etc. A dazzling structure where for years hundreds of students have done their internships at the reception, in public relations, entertainment, booking managament, or in the kitchen or restaurant.

It´s noteworthy that its team of experts has great experiences with interns from countries such as Germany, France and Italy, among many others: they know how to offer a real internship experience.

The interns´ working hours are 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. The daily shifts can be split or continuous depending on the position and  the season. All internships are paid, and provide free accommodation and meals.


Internship tasks:

This internship is carried out in three departments, described below.

Important: To apply for this position you must have high English and Spanish + French or Italian or German.

a) Reception:

  • Communication in various languages, and giving tourist information to guests.
  • Reception of new guests: check-in.
  • Registering check-outs.
  • Answering national and international calls.
  • Handling complaints, incidents, and answering questions.
  • Organising room changes.
  • Informing clients about services, fees, and hotel´s schedules.
  • Learning about the registries of the front office.
  • Learning how to close out the till at the end of the shift.
  • Learning how to bill the travel agencies and other hired services.

b) PPRR:

  • Attend the clients in different languages by solving doubts or advising them about the services of the hotel.
  • Organise and send e-mailing campaigns to partners and guests with corporate information, check-ins, check-outs, events and more.
  • Welcome clients in the restaurant or at events that take place at the hotel premises.
  • Follow-up on and handle complaints to avoid more dissatisfaction, and find diplomatic solutions.
  • Inform and solve doubts of clients and partners at national and international level via telephone and e-mail.
  • Provide general tourist information and information about tourist excursions.
  • Take care of the welcome and farewell of the customers.

c) Events:

  • Receive and process requests for the organisation of events, groups or conventions for the internal use, and under the supervision of a tutor.
  • Collaborate in the creation of the budget and charging for the event in less than 24 hours after the receipt of the request.
  • Track proposals submitted to potential customer groups.
  • Follow up during the realisation of the events and coordinate with the other involved departments, such as the restaurant or entertainment, the order of the services.
  • Do quality surveys and, thus, get the customer´s opinion of the events through the questionnaire.
  • Send appreciation letters to the groups when they are leaving.
  • Collaborate in the invoicing of the events: Review the billing with the client and track the payment.
  • Update the database with  new contacts of agencies and companies that are obtained from fairs, visits of agencies, received visits at the hotel and through others channels.
  • Organise the sending of information and promotional material from the hotel to potential clients.
  • Receive and attend visits from travel agents, event planners and wedding and banquette clients who come to the hotel to inform themselves about services.
  • Maintain the actualisation of the event plannings and the calendar: both confirmed and planned.

Requirements for the applicant:

Studies

Tourism, foreign languages, Communication, International Relations

Required languages

English – C1
Spanish – C1
Italian – Appreciated

Desired experience

Valued experience in direct contact with clients, in hotels, or in tourism in general

IT skills

MS Windows, MS Office, Interner

Other requirements

Apart from English and Spanish, knowledge of other languages will be required (Italian, French, German etc.)
