Information about the company that’s offering the internship:

Founded initially as a charity in 1990 this company has many years of experience in the Translation and Interpreting Industry. The London office, based in Canary Wharf, of this international company has 70 dedicated professionals who work there on a daily basis offering a wide variety of languages solutions to customers from all over the world.

This company offers students of languages the opportunity to do an internship within their London office. The student will be able to rely on the knowledge of experienced professionals who will impart 1 on 1 training throughout the internship process.

The main objectives of this internship are:

  • To help interns understand the structure of a language services provider environment.
  • To apply knowledges and skills acquired at university in a working environment.
  • To observe and participate in translation projects and activities appropriate to their competence.
  • To improve the student’s job prospects and opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired at university in a business environment.

Internship tasks:

The intern’s tasks depend on the student’s needs and interest. However, tasks can include:

  • Quality Assurance: – making sure that all documents match the company’s prerequisites for each document.
  • Proofreading:- making sure that all translations and documents have no errors in your native language before delivery to the client.
  • Project Management: – assuring that you understand the project management process by communicating and handling translators, proof-readers and clients.
  • Supplier Recruitment: – source new linguists based on the specific project requirements.
  • IT Skills: – the intern will develop their skills with XTM and Trados 2017 in order to be able to better manage projects.
  • Working Relationships: – the intern must build trust and working relationships between colleagues and clients.
  • Terminology Management: – create glossaries and termbases by using online tools and software such as Multiterm.
  • Translation Memories: – perform TM alignments and update TMs to ensure that the quality of the translations is of the highest possible standard.
  • Administration tasks: – issue invoices and purchase orders.

 

The student is expected to:

  • Act in a professional way.
  • Complete tasks to the best of their ability.
  • Maintain a good standard of dress and appearance in line with the company dress code.
  • Be punctual.
  • Be conscientious and comply with the company’s information security policy.

Benefits

The company does not offer remuneration, however they do offer a daily allowance of 12 € for transport and 7 € for lunch.
